At Discipline Pilates, we teach exercises on the Cadillac, Chair, Reformer, and Mat—all designed to make you a highly adaptable instructor, able to fit the needs of virtually anyone. Increasingly, healthcare providers are using evidence-based Pilates alongside manual rehab therapy to treat orthopedic, neurological, as well as musculoskeletal conditions—helping patients not only recover, but build lasting strength and function. You will begin with mat training, which introduces the six principles of Pilates and their impact on the body. This foundation explores both the philosophy and practice of Pilates.
Why Add Pilates to Your Practice?
Pilates is evidence-based, effective across ages and abilities, and provides functional movement training with extensive tools for treatment and long-term client retention.
Our teacher training builds on the expertise you already bring from your healthcare, movement, or wellness background. Over ten weeks or six months, you’ll expand your skills through in-studio learning, independent study, and applied practice. The curriculum covers Pilates principles, history, anatomy, biomechanics, mat sequence, cueing, props, posture assessment, special populations, and hands-on ethics.
Outside of class, you will document time you spend practicing by yourself (at least three times per week), teaching, observing experienced instructors, studying, and preparing for the certification exam. After completing the program, you may sit for the exam and, upon passing, become a Certified Pilates Teacher.
